Three great days of events

We started off with the Corporate Lunch on Friday 1st December, where over 140 guests enjoyed a delicious festive meal followed by a brilliant after-dinner speech and auction from Andy Gomarsall MBE. In the auction, the generosity of the businesses supporting Stourbridge showed itself once again, with nearly £1800 being raised for the Wooden Spoon Rugby Charity for Children. Mark Grainger of Old Mutual Wealth even donated the signed shirt he'd purchased back to be used at future events, yet another generous gesture.

On Saturday 2nd December, Stourton Park saw its largest crowd of the season for the Official Launch of the new AGP. It was a massive day for the Club and although Hinckley forgot to read the script, coming away with a 0-35 win, the result was the only blip in an otherwise spectacular day. With Peter Wheeler CBE (Leicester, England and British & Irish Lions - now a Junior Vice-President of the RFU) and Stourbridge MP, Margot James performing the opening ceremony; a curtain-raiser game between Stourbridge and Hinckley Under 14s; the Hoppers playing Kidderminster and the bumper crowd, there was a buzz around Stourton Park that we hope to take into future home game Saturdays.

On Sunday 3rd December, we hosted 'Christmas at Stourton Park'. Starting at 12 noon as the M&Js finished their matches and training with our close neighbours at DK, the Christmas Fayre provided an ideal start to the festive season. There was a Santa and his Elves, the Club Kit Shop, Mulled Wine & Mince Pies, festive stalls and the ever-popular 'Bottle Store'. The event created a great festive atmosphere in the clubhouse that everyone enjoyed.

Events like the three the Club has just staged could not happen without the contribution that numerous volunteers make. There's far too many to name from all of these events, but everyone at the Club should be grateful for the help they gave to make these events such a great success - Thank You!
