Black Country Vipers American Football Team and Stourbridge Rugby announce their new partnership.

Below is the press release that Stourbridge Rugby and Black Country Vipers have just sent out to announce their new partnership for 2018.

This is an exciting development for Stourbridge Rugby, bringing a new sport to the Club that utilises our facilities in the off-season. It also offers opportunities for our own juniors players to sample a different sport and vice-versa.

Black Country Vipers will have their own team page on the website to announce their Open Days and fixtures.

The Black Country Vipers are proud to announce their new home for the 2018 season as Stourton Park, home of Stourbridge Rugby. The Vipers have entered into a mutual partnership with Stourbridge Rugby that will see the club enjoy the benefits of membership to a long established and respected Midlands sporting institution.

Talks have been ongoing for a number of months, with both sides expressing excitement at the prospect of American Football being played at Stourton Park.

Robin Edwards, Chairman of Stourbridge Rugby, commented “There’s a synergy between our two sports that will provide excellent opportunities for young players from both Clubs. With the American Football season running from April to September, it is a perfect fit with our rugby season"

Ian Jewkes, CEO and General Manager of Black Country Vipers, added “We are really excited about our new partnership with Stourbridge Rugby. The move provides us with excellent playing and training facilities, as well as the opportunity for players from both Clubs to try out a different sport."

Having completed arrangements and having the partnership positively ratified by the managing committee of Stourbridge Rugby, the first opportunity to utilise this partnership will be a series of taster sessions for 13-18 year olds on October 15th, November 19th and December 10th , all of which will take place between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at Stourton Park.

With the introduction of a new 3G field at Stourton Park, the Vipers will have the use of excellent training and playing facilities, as well as the ability to deliver classroom sessions, all in one purpose-built site. It is the hope of both parties that this will be a long and prosperous partnership.
