Colts - Tale of Two Halves

Stourbridge started with only 13 men and were caught napping in the first 5 minutes as Veseyans came on the charge to score their first but failed to convert.

Stour instantly hit back off a scrum with a clever chip over by fly half Owen Williams to score the first under the sticks. Stourbridge then took held of the game with tries from Dan Langman, Ewan Langley, and finally Harron Arif finishing off a well worked team try.

Stourbridge looked comfortable but then conceded a penalty conversation and try before half time, after loosing James Westwood to injury. Stour were now down to 12 as the Second half started where Veseyans played fresh legs and scored two converted tries within the first 10 mins putting them in front.
However Stourbridge responded with a quick tap from Owen Williams seeing him in for his second. Going into the last 10 mins Stourbridge conceded again putting the hosts 10 points ahead. With minutes to go from a scrum in our own 22, Owen williams put in an inch perfect cross field kick to Harry Gardiner who put Dan Langman in for his second. 35 secs left on the clock Gardiner took over the kicking duties and nailed the extra points. Time was up but the game had to be restarted but Stourbridge failed to gather cleanly from the kick off.

Final score 39-36 to Veseyans

The boys were an absolute credit and fought to the very end even when they were under pressure. Several times they held their defence firm on their own try line denying Veseyans a score, even with a man down. Next week we host Old Salts at home where the boys are looking for a complete performance.
