This Sunday 21st May three local Stourbridge ladies are taking on Slateman; a full Olympic distance triathlon on Snowdon comprising of a 1000m open water swim, 54km cycle on the Llangollen path, and an 11km trail run on Mount Snowdon to raise vital funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Sisters Charlotte & Faye Robbins plus close friend Lisa Hill are all keen athletes and members of Stourbridge Rugby Club who have been fundraising and training since Christmas for this epic challenge.

Charlotte Robbins is a teacher at Hadley Learning Community where she teaches a young girl, Morgan Murray who was given the devastating news at the age of 14 that she had Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma, more commonly known as Cancer. She is now in remission and on a 5 year battle plan to be clear of this awful disease.

Charlotte commented, “Having seen first-hand the day-to-day struggle Morgan has suffered and the effect it has had on her education and social life within school we wanted to do something to help. The Teenage Cancer Trust has supported Morgan through this awful time as well thousands of other young people who show day in, day out their extraordinary courage to beat this horrific disease.

When put into context, Slateman seems like a walk in the park compared to what Morgan has suffered, however we hope it is a big enough challenge that we are able to help children around the country in their on-going battles.

The girls have already raised over £1,400 via their Just Giving page, whilst a fundraising barbecue last weekend raised another £530 from friends and family members.
