Putting player welfare at the heart of the game and supporting clubs to provide a safe playing environment and develop high quality coaching.

Last year saw the inaugural RugbyAware campaign, over 140 clubs hosted a RugbyAware session which provided updates on tackle safety, law amendments and HEADCASE.

It’s back again for the 2017-18 season and this year we’d like to invite clubs to register their interest to host a RugbyAware session between August and October.

Whether a coach, match official, teacher, parent, volunteer or player... Rugby Aware is an opportunity for everyone involved in rugby union to gain knowledge and understanding on some of the current topics in the game especially on player welfare and player safety, RFU programmes and initiatives, available resources and training opportunities.

Part One – Indoor Session (1.5 hours)
1. What’s happening in your local rugby community
2. Activate - Injury Prevention Exercise Programme – Study ndings
3. RugbySafe & HEADCASE
4. Touchline behaviour
5. Signposting / previewing

Part Two - Outdoor Practical for Coaches (optional – 1.5 hours)
The 90 minute session will introduce coaches to the Activate - Injury Prevention Exercise Programme. This programme has been developed following a four year study which showed injuries rates including concussion can be reduced when players follow a speci cally designed exercise programme as part of their training and pre-match warm up.
