More silverware for Stourbridge Rugby teams

SRFC U10s arrived at Chichester for a weekend of Rugby fun. Lots of preparation went into the tour and the anticipation was tense. Once the new tour kit appeared and the pirates costumes came out, the festival of fun began. Stourbridge had 2 teams against 2 teams from Ealing, 3 from Wimbledon and 1 Old Elthamians. Matches soon kicked off against Wimbledon Warriors. They had the most teams and we anticipated they would be stretched. Wrong! Wimbledon were organised perfectly balanced and very strong.

The day 1 matches against Wimbledon could only be described as brutal. We didn't expect it and I don't think they did either. Our boys did us proud and played with complete integrity as normal. This ended in 3 wins 1 draw and 2 defeats between both teams. The Ealing sides were slightly less balanced but again very strong. Games were played on alternate days of the tour. We had to deal with more brutal play and our respect was honourable. These games ended in 3 wins and 1 loss for Stour. Old Elthamians were a single side with a big expanding squad to choose from and they took full advantage of that. Unfortunately for Stour their strength and game management saw both our sides being beat convincingly. We were very impressed with their organisation and style of play. Fortunately for Stour, Wimbledonian Warriors had drawn twice with OE on day one leaving a final game between Stourbridge Saxons and Stourbridge Lions with enough points available for Saxons to lift the trophy. The Lions came out of the blocks fighting and they didn't stop with most of the play in Saxons territory. The first and only chance Saxons had resulted in a tournament winning try for Todd Stevens. The remainder of the game was a huge defensive effort from Saxons to prevent Lions scoring. It was Smiles v Fear. It ended 1-0 and it was a great end to a fantastic tournament for the whole squad.

Well done Stour!!!!!!
