A great day for the Under 11s at DK

On Sunday 2nd April, Stourbridge Under 11s competed in the Gallis Cup at Dudley Kingswinford. The team played 6 matches facing Bridgnorth, DK, Old Yards, Bromsgrove, Luctonians and Old Hales.

They managed not only 6 straight wins scoring 23 tries, but were also successful in keeping a clean sheet in every game.

The boys also won the FairPlay trophy which was assessed by the referees from each match and was awarded for sportsmanship, team work and playing in the true spirit of rugby.

Andy Gallis emailed me some feedback last night which I think sums up the day perfectly...see below:

"Our family have run the Under 11s festival for the last 43 years and do it with pride, dad played for Stour in the 50s!

The Stourbridge 11s were outstanding today and were chosen by our referees to win the fairplay trophy. When you get this special ingredient of fairplay and sportsmanship and back that up with ability, all credit for this must go to the coaches and management team......this team will go far. I had a chat with the lads and their response was a credit to Stourbridge RFC."

A great day had by all players, coaches and parents.
