Stourbridge Rugby Club is clearing the boards for its fifth annual Comedy Night on Saturday 16th March and once again we are grateful to local Dudley impresario Wayne Beese for organising the event, despite not being able to appear on the night due to a prior engagement.

Beese who runs and comperes the Fitz of Laughter club at Katie Fitzgeralds in Stourbridge, Comedy at the Court House in Dudley and quarterly nights at the the 700 capacity Brierley Hill Civic Hall has further branched out during 2018 by introducing comedy nights to the Cornbow Hall in Halesowen, Sutton Coldfield Town Hall and Whitchurch Civic Centre.

Headlining the night will be the 2018 Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Nick Page who in 2017 won the English Comedian of the Year contest winning an all expenses paid trip to perform in Australia at the Adelaide and Perth Comedy Festivals. What you possibly won’t know about Nick is that he is also a former presenter of the BBC daytime programme Escape To The Country who revels in the kind of stories most people would want locked in their darkest cupboard. His unique rapid fire delivery will leave you wondering how anyone can get through so many words so quickly.

Joining Nick on the bill as both MC and opening act is comedian Ben Briggs who is making his second visit to Stourton Park having supported Andy White at our very first gig in 2015. Since the beginning of his comedy career in 2008, Ben has won 2 Fun House Comedy Gong Shows and in 2015 reached the final of the English Comedian of the Year. His dark sense of humour plus his open and honest material has him in popular demand in some of the biggest clubs in the country.

Club organiser, John Slim said “We are so pleased that Wayne is once again providing us with another quality line up of entertainment. Last year’s hilarious night with the madcap Barbara Nice was an outstanding success so we are looking forward to another fantastic night of fun and laughter.”

The show starts at 7:30pm with a two course meal and tickets costing just £20 are available now from the rugby club office on 01384 395000, John Slim on 07989 786913 or via e mail to events@stourbridgerugby.com
