Welcome to all the new micros too

It was great to get the season underway last week and great to see all the familiar faces along with some new faces beginning their journey in the micros. The U6 session was based around catching/handling this week which included 2 new games designed to increase their skill level and test them. The new games worked well and (this is rapidly becoming a welcome habit), they picked them up very easily and demonstrating more than was asked to them.

In Cross the Ocean, the premise was simple; get the ball to the one side of the grid to the other without dropping it and making at least 4 passes to each other. By the end of the session, the majority were passing all passes to each other and Riley and Rowan were even talking to each other as they passed the ball; very well done indeed to all. The next time we run this game, then we’ll introduce the ball being passed backwards.

The relay was very pleasing, again incorporating a pass into it and, again, very few drops of the ball showing excellent concentration from all.

This week saw the debut of the new cups from Timpson and the inaugural winners were Lois and Callum; Lois won the teamwork cup as she sometime didn’t have a partner for cross the ocean so ran with the coaches. Callum was very focussed this session which led to him winning the listening cup; particularly during the relay.

Well done to Callum and Lois and thanks to Rich and Morley for helping out with the new intake of micros.
