Great session all round

After a week off due to the horrible weather the week before, it was great to have all the kids back and for the sun to come out. For the micros this week, the session was concentrating on all round play which included tagging the coaches, scoring tries and catching also. A huge thanks to Joe and Rhys for helping this week, your help was invaluable.

During this session we welcomed one new micro who got stuck in and did really well and all the others responded scoring some excellent tries and de-tagging the coaches. Alex won the listening cup this week responding well to in game coaching specially; well done Alex.

We had reduced numbers for the U6’s this week which allowed us to work on more game related exercises and I’m really pleased to say that ever player did really well; we built on the tagging games from the previous week and started the notion of 2 vs 1 (likes sharks vs pirates), 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3 and 3 vs 2. I was especially proud of the group I had where we had some of the more experienced players controlling their defensive lines and the lesser experienced players taking command well; this puts us in good stead for the games we’ll be playing after Xmas. Well done to Sebastian, Wilf, Ben and Jack J for their organisational skills.

Blake won the teamwork cup this week, largely down to one single piece of teamwork that occurred whilst we were playing team tag game; helping another player up who had fallen over and making sure he was ok. Well done Blake! The listening cup was won, inadvertently, by Sid, who was awarded the cup by my son who misheard the coach say Seb; both Sid and Seb has great weeks so we awarded Seb some sweets and Sid the cup. Well done to all of you.
