Back to training

After a couple of weeks absence due to the weather, it was good to get back to the rugby this week. We welcomed 2 new coaches who’ll be helping us out for the next few months for their DoE awards who fitted in well and had a big thumbs up from the players. Welcome to Johnny and Jensen and thanks for helping out.

In micro’s this week, they was an emphasis placed on dodging and spatial awareness through the use of relay races and obstacle courses; in this session, there were 3 awards which proves how well the players did. Harrison was chosen for demonstrating a great effort in all the session, Finley won an award as his kicking has improvement a lot over recent week and Alex for executing a perfect contact tackle on the unsuspecting sponge doughnut. Well done to all 3 micros!

With the U6’s we ran games again in one grid and changed things slightly in the other grid; the games are getting better each week with players helping out other players in respect to forming defensive lines and supporting each other vocally. In the second grid, we ran a game that encouraged the players to make decisions for themselves which, after a little time, they understood and came up with some great ideas by themselves with Sid and Daisy coming up with some great ideas in their team.

We asked debut coach Johnny to award the cup this week and he chose Riley; this was mainly down to Riley’s defensive efforts and his encouragement of his team-mates in games. The second award went to Harry who is a relatively new player to SRFC and he was chosen as he has picked up the basics very well in a short amount of time and did particularly well in the games this week. Well done to Riley and Harry.
