52 return to rugby training for The Lions, Hounds and Hoppers as Lockdown eases

After what has been a difficult time for many and a lockdown that has impacted the club it was incredible to see The Stourbridge Lions, Hounds & Hoppers turn out for the first training session of what is now an extended season for these teams.

Paul Meakin was joined by 52 players & coaches on what was a tremendous night, finally seeing rugby training back at Stourton after such a long layoff. The enthusiasm to be back evident and the coaches were bowled over by the commitment the players demonstrated in work rate from warm up through the round robin touch rugby matches. Paul was supported by coaches Jacob John, Stu Doolittle, James Meakin and our Physio Charlie Thornton.

The season has been extended by the RFU until the end of May, allowing us to play some fixtures under adapted rules, so please see The Lions, Hounds & Hoppers fixtures on the website starting with an interclub match with Lions, Hounds & Hoppers on Saturday 24th April at Stourton. All are welcome to come and support or put the boots back on and join in. We are preparing for three competitive matches which start with the Lions at home against Whitchurch on May 1st (Hounds / Hoppers away). On May 15th, the Lions travel to Wolverhampton (Hounds / Hoppers Home) & the the season concludes with Lions away at Sutton Coldfield on May 29th (Hounds / Hoppers Home). The club will be open for all matches, so please come down to support!

Definitely a great start and we look forward to seeing all the guys back again at 6.15pm on Tuesday 6th April for more of the same.

LIONS, HOUNDS & HOPPERS are back!!!
