Max Stelling and Alex Davidson join Stour's coaching team

Director of Rugby Neil Mitchell has been quick to strike in providing two top class coaches to head the Stourbridge family next season. Max Stelling and Alex Davidson.

Neil Mitchell said, "I’ve been talking with Max and Alex for sometime now about coaching and development of players at Stourbridge at all levels. We have a common desire to progress Stourbridge RFC and see the true potential of our Black Country demographic. We recognise the need to ‘upskill’ our players at all levels. Max who at 24 and a former Premiership player at Worcester Warriors could have taken many opportunities at the highest level to continue to play but sees his future in player development. As a former OSH student and having many friends at the Club he decided that Stourbridge was the club he wanted to start that journey and I am very pleased to welcome him on board. Although primarily his role will be club attack and strategy coach, he may play for the Club at some stage. Alex, I regard as an excellent Forwards Coach and he has made great strides with our players since coming on board to assist since the New Year and I am very pleased he has accepted the position."

Max Stelling commented, "I am really looking forward to getting started in my new role at Stourbridge RFC. This is s really exciting opportunity to develop all of our senior players within a unified system."

Alex Davidson added, “Having joined the club back in January and gained an insight into the potential of the existing 1st XV squad as well as the wider club, I am excited by the prospect of working within the set-up from the off this time around.

Recruitment to the playing squad already looks positive, and when combined with the new opportunity to develop players across the whole club structure through the realignment of the 1st XV and Lions, the prospect is great.

Having met with Max Stelling, I was impressed by his focus, game knowledge and plans for team structure, and I’m looking forward to working alongside him and Mitch. Our aim will be to help the club realise it’s potential and have very positive league campaigns at all levels.”
