Tagging this week

Them Micros are going from strength to strength each week and picking up the basics well in considering they’ve only been for a handful of weeks. Thanks to Rich and Surchy for their continued help and it’s great to see the numbers increasing every week; the first cup winners of the brand new micro’s trophies were Daisy and Scott. Scott has done really well since joining and regularly has a smile on his face; he won the teamwork cup this week after inventing a new game which seemed incorporate some form of spider walk! Daisy won the listening cup in her first session so well done to both Scott and Daisy.

With the 6s this week, we concentrated on tagging which was an interesting session! The games where there are smaller numbers of Micros running and tagging seem to work well as it gave them a particular person to focus on to try and get their tag; in the team game, they had 2 opponents to keep an eye out for which meant they had to be cautious and keep an eye out from all directions. Particularly pleasing in this game was that all of the 6s managed to get a tag and the scoring element helped them build a teamwork environment; in was in this game that Rowan won the teamwork cup. He took it on himself to start chanting and cheering for his team mates without any prompting or direction, something which we have encouraged for most of last season and the beginning of this. Well done Rowan (on the right.)

The listening cup was won by James this week; in only his second week, he has picked up both the tagging and dodging elements really well. He responds well to in-game coaching and has a constant smile on his face when participating; well done to James (on the left.)

This week we saw the return of an old cup so awarded this cup to a micro that “is generally awesome” (thank you Scall) which was Huw; if there is ever an example of size doesn’t matter (a la Neil Back), then it’s Huw. He is one of the smallest 6s we have but one of the most consistent in every game, every week (centre.)
