Chase the Joker Comes to Stourbridge Rugby
We’re excited to introduce Chase the Joker, a new weekly draw at Stourbridge Rugby Club that gives you the chance to win a growing cash jackpot while helping to raise money that will directly benefit teams across the club.
Tickets cost £5, with 50% of ticket sales going towards the Chase the Joker prize pot and the remaining 50% going back into the club through a dedicated team funding initiative.
It means every ticket sold has two potential winners: the person chasing the jackpot and our teams across Stourbridge Rugby.
How does Chase the Joker work?
Each Chase the Joker ticket costs £5 and enters you into the next available draw.
A draw will take place each Saturday following the senior game being played that day at Stourton Park.
One ticket will be drawn at random and the winner will receive a guaranteed £50 cash prize. They will then get the opportunity to Chase the Joker by selecting one card from a deck of 53 cards.
Find the Joker and they win the jackpot.
If the Joker isn’t found, the jackpot rolls over and continues to grow ready for the following draw.
The £50 guaranteed winner’s prize will be deducted from the prize pot.
A jackpot that keeps growing
The more tickets we sell, the bigger the potential jackpot becomes.
50% of all Chase the Joker ticket sales will contribute to the prize fund, with the jackpot continuing to build until somebody successfully finds the Joker.
Our starting jackpot will be created from 50% of all ticket sales made between Saturday 26 September and our first Chase the Joker draw, which will take place following the Lions’ home game against Veseyans on Saturday 3 October.
So the earlier you get involved, the more we can build that opening jackpot.
Supporting teams across Stourbridge Rugby
Chase the Joker isn’t just about creating a great cash prize.
The other 50% of ticket sales will be retained by the club specifically to provide funding opportunities for our teams.
Teams will be invited to apply for funding towards things they genuinely need, such as equipment, resources or other items that will directly benefit their players and their rugby.
Applications will be considered by the Social Committee, with funding allocated three times during the season, approximately every three months. We are aiming to make our first funding awards before Christmas.
Full details of the application process, including how to apply, will be published shortly. Applications will be able to include the amount requested, what the funding is required for and how it will benefit the team.
Most importantly, we want this to be transparent.
As funding is awarded, we’ll share details of where the money has gone so everyone supporting Chase the Joker can see the difference their tickets are making across Stourbridge Rugby.
We want Chase the Joker to become something that the whole club can get behind.
Whether you’re involved with our senior sides, Colts, Pumas, Minis & Juniors, a parent, member, volunteer, former player or simply someone who enjoys coming to Stourton Park, buying a ticket helps to grow both the jackpot and the amount of money available to our teams.
The more support Chase the Joker receives, the more money there will be to give back.
And, of course, somebody gets the chance to walk away with the jackpot.
When can I buy tickets?
Tickets will be available throughout the week from behind the bar, rather than only on matchdays.
Following each draw, ticket sales will immediately reopen for the following week and remain open until half-time of the senior game taking place on the day of the next draw.
Tickets can be purchased over the bar during the week and will also be available from our volunteers at the club on Sunday mornings, making it easy for our Minis & Juniors families and the wider club community to get involved.
Tickets cost £5 each and Chase the Joker is strictly for those aged 18 and over.
What happens if I win the weekly draw?
The person whose ticket is selected will receive £50 and the opportunity to choose a card and Chase the Joker.
The winner can be present at the draw or available by telephone. Alternatively, they may nominate a proxy to select a card on their behalf.
If the Joker is selected, the jackpot is won.
If another card is selected, the jackpot rolls over and continues to grow through future ticket sales.
When is the first draw?
Ticket sales begin on Saturday 26 September.
Our first Chase the Joker draw will then take place on Saturday 3 October following the Lions’ home league fixture against Veseyans at Stourton Park.
The opening jackpot will consist of 50% of everything raised through ticket sales between the launch and that first draw.
So now there are even more reasons to get behind your teams, support the club and stick around after the rugby.
You could be our first person to Chase the Joker.
