Anna Smith2 Jun - 15:37

We're seeking a volunteer Safeguarding Officer to help keep our Club safe, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.

We would like to sincerely thank our current Safeguarding Officer, Tracey Packham, who has supported the Club for many years. Following her decision to step down from the role, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for her commitment, dedication, and invaluable contribution to the Club over that time.

About the Role
The Safeguarding Officer plays a vital role in ensuring that the Club remains a safe and positive environment, particularly for children and vulnerable adults. The position is carried out in line with RFU safeguarding standards and guidance.

Key Responsibilities
Acting as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns
Ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are followed
Supporting coaches and volunteers with safeguarding awareness
Liaising with the RFU and relevant safeguarding bodies when required
Maintaining appropriate records and confidentiality
Promoting a positive safeguarding culture throughout the Club

Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:

  • Responsible, approachable, and discreet
  • Organised with good communication skills
  • Committed to safeguarding best practice
  • Training & Support

Full training is provided through the RFU, so previous safeguarding experience is not essential, although it would be advantageous.

Why This Role Matters
This is a key volunteer position that helps protect everyone within our Club and ensures we continue to meet our safeguarding responsibilities as a rugby community.

By taking on this role, you will play an important part in creating a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment for players, volunteers, members, and visitors alike.
