Grown-ups/Coaches vs Micro's

The tradition of the last session being a fun session continued this year with the annual grown-ups/coaches vs micro’s to bring down the curtain on a very good season for this group of players. We have a great turn-out again thanks to the sunshine making another appearance and managed to field 2 teams of grown-ups and 2 teams of micros for the battle ahead!

From the onset it was clear that the grown-ups were playing to win; smashing the tackle bags with ferocious intensity and focussed to a level we haven’t seen much of this season. Throughout the various relay races, we saw some more unusual running styles and some very unusual tackling styles (the exocet, the flying head butt and the jumping legs akimbo mainly) but it was, ultimately, mistakes that let the grown-ups down making rookie errors like running with the ball in one hand! This led to multiple points being deducted from the grown-ups.

After the first round the micro’s were just leading in the points tally so it was on to a favourite of ours being rob the nest; this time the grown-ups opted for a different tactic: cheating. It didn’t take long for the eagled eyed micro’s to notice stealing of multiple balls so they decided to opt for the same tactic; from a coaching point of view, given how many people we had running at all times, it was great to see the micro’s dodging without thinking about it. This led, again, to multiple points being deducted from the grown-ups.

To finish, we had a quick game of Octopus which saw the micro’s winning with some great dodging and space finding, particularly from Henry, Ted, Rowan, Riley and Robin.

The final score was 149 to the grown-ups and 150 to the micro’s; everyone had a great time and thanks to all the grown-ups that joined in. So this week, we awarded the cup to the best grown-up and it was awarded to Craig; well done Craig.
