We are deeply saddened to inform you of the death of Dave Turner on Tuesday 29th July.
Dave is the most capped 1st XV player in the club’s 150 year history, being one of only two players (with scrum half Johnny Moore) to play over 400 games at the top level. His 457 games started when he was still a pupil at Stourbridge Grammar School. Dave played 1st XV rugby in three decades, mainly as a full back and captained the team as did his younger brother Dick. He was an inspirational Captain of some very successful sides. Dave represented Staffordshire and Worcester & Herefordshire and was also a very talented cricketer and golfer.
He will be greatly missed by many of our senior members who will all have many rugby memories of their time on and off the field with Dave.
The photos of Dave show him as a young school boy when we still played at Vicarage Road and the most recent from a few years ago at our Ex-Players where he used to catch up with his team mates.
Our deepest condolences go to Dave's wife Liz, his children Rob, Jane, Lucy and family.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
