Welcoming more new micros and U6's

Back to normal this week and we welcomed new players for both the micros and U6’s which is always welcomed and we are lucky in that we’ve had some great consistency over recent years at these age groups. In the U6’s we welcomed Jacob and Sam who have been in the micros since joining last year and Harry and Ralph also.

The micro’s carried on from the brilliant 1st half of the season with more core skills, a lot of shouting and plenty of handling tasks.

William won the certificate this week for his tenacity and never give up attitude during the sharks game and for having a huge smile on his face all day.

Well done to William.

In the U6’s we concentrated on catching/passing obstacle courses with the remainder of the coaches taking small groups and running game scenarios to get them prepared for next season. As we’ve said all season so far, this will be a reoccurring feature getting them ready for U7 games next season. Once they are familiar and comfortable with the game situation, then we can reinforce the notions of defence, passing down the line, identifying space (and when to run) and multiple tags which are elements we have consistently bought in over the first half of the season.

The certificates this week were awarded to Daisy and James C; Daisy has recently joined the U6’s from the micros and performed exceptionally well considering she hasn’t been playing rugby for very long. Very attentive during the session and has picked up the core skills very quickly.

James won the certificate for being awesome this week from his playing in the game scenario with particular reference to his strong passing and catching skills.

Well done to Daisy and James.
