Introducing new grid system and the new kicking posts!

This week in micros, we introduced our new mini goalposts which went down very well with adults and kids alike. Tagging was the order of the day initially morphing into more ball related games towards the end of the session; several new games were introduced and the micros took to them very well indeed. This week, to mark the debut of the new posts, we held a kicking competition and the winner was Jacob; this was a tight affair with Jacob holding off stiff competition (including his Dad) to win the inaugural kicking cup. Well done to Jacob.

In the U6’s we introduced fixed grids and moved the kids from grid to grid to keep them running about and focussed; purposely starting with a running about game, then a skill based game and finishing with a running based game. In this session, we ran 2 tagging games and 1 handling based game which they have done before; with team tag they kids are looking at working in a small team to achieve an objective which is something that they’ll use in games. This was further reinforced by sharks vs pirates at the end of the session; it’s great to see their tagging developing with Oliver, Riley, James and Rowan performing well as sharks and Quinn, Seb and Oscar being particularly good dodging pirates.

The listening cup this week was won by Oliver (left) who really found his own in both tagging games and really good to see his development in this area; he was very attentive and even caught the coaches out whilst playing sharks vs pirates. The teamwork cup this week was won by Sebastian who responded to in-game coaching whilst we were tagging in teams in relation to helping out other kids on the yellow team.

Well done to Sebastian and Oliver.
