Stour's well-organised defences were given a good workout early on by Gloucestershire's Hartpury College, who play a league above Stour in National 1. But they held firm and when Stour finally broke out they scored two well-worked threequarter tries including a debut score for Josh Trinham.
Hartpury pulled back two tries early 2nd half but a further try and hard work in defence saw Stour secure victory.
With faces new and old on show, ex Stourbridge Lions openside flanker Rich Pennock didn't look out of place at all and put in 80min of hard graft.
